What is a Coalition?

This morning LS2 were learning about what a coalition and how will the coalition with NZ first affect the results in the Election this year. I learnt the meaning of Coalition which is to make an alliance with another party.

Whole School Cross Country

On Thursday the whole school did the cross country. I was an helper at the finish line, I had to gather the first three from each year group and write their name down at the table. The laps that every year did were (the year 1's did 1 lap, The year 2's did two laps, the year 3's did 3 laps, the year 4's did 4 laps, the year 5&6's did 5 laps and the year 7&8's did 5 laps) I could not believe that they could do that many laps. I had really fun making friends with the that came 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. I enjoyed that everyone was look like they were lost of fun.

Flow Chart for Democracy

This flowchart is about the democracy in New Zealand. My group (Oh Hsen, Shannon, CJ, Fraidoon, Daniel and AJ) put the things that happens in an election in order of power. The first that we put is the queen because she is the head state, then the governor general, Local election, general election, elected prime minster and house of parliament. I also learnt the definition for democracy and the langue of origin which is Greek.  

What Is a Prime Minster?

This week LS2 have been learning about the role of a prime minster. For this task my group (Daniel, Oh Hsen, Shannon, CJ, Fraidoon and A.J) picked the former prime minster David Lange. I have learnt a lot of things about David Lange, one of the thing that he did was help New Zealand stay Nuclear free.

Government Parties Jigsaw

This week LS2 are learning what an election is and the parties involved with the election. I learnt a lot about these parties in the link above and their leaders. I cannot wait to find out who wins the election on Saturday the 23rd September. I worked with Fraidoon, Shannon, CJ, Daniel, Oh Hsen and A.J.

On Friday we had tech, the year 8's are having stained glass with Mr Grundy. This week we had to draw our final design and Mr Grundy had to check and see if it's okay. After everyone has finished drawing their final design we got to cut glass, I think this tech rotation stained glass in the hardest because it s hard to cut the glass.

Run Jump Throw with Andy

This week we had Run Jump Throw with Andy. The first activity that we did was warm up game witch was octopus, this game was really fun. Then we went to, how to throw a discuss. This was a little hard most of us who does not like throwing anything. After everyone has had one try at throwing a discuss we then went into, how to throw a shot put. I think that this activity was challenging for most of us because the shot put was really heavy. I would like to say a big thank you to Andy for having us this week for Run Jump Throw. I can not wait for next weeks session.

Bullying Animation

For this task we had to create an animation or a movie to tell others how to stand up to bully's. On of the main things you do is Stand up & Speak out, we also use WITS to stand up to bully's. I had really fun creating this activity, and learning how to stand up to bully's. 

Reading - Suffragette

My group (Calvin, C.J, Oh Hsen and Shannon) have completed this activity. We had to complete the jigsaw about the Suffragette's. I think that I had a lot fun doing this activity and learning new things about the suffragette's.


Today I have finished this DLO about cyber smart. I have really fun learning new things  how to stay cyber smart. 

2 Sentence Word DLO

For this week for writing this week we have been learning about two word sentence. Our task was choose three examples and make them into a compound and complex sentence. I thought that this was a really great task.

Today at Tamaki College

Today the year 8's, stayed at Tamaki College for an experience day. First we played battle ships in Maths with Mr Jones, that was really fun. Then we went to Science with Mr Stoddard and Mr Singh, they taught us about static energy and we did three experiments. They were really awesome. We then had lunch. I thought that it was really nice that the staff at Tamaki College bought us subway. After lunch we had English with Mr Stevenson, we did a fun activity. We had to find visual images, of the words that we had to remember. Then we went to PE with Mr Moyes, we played turbo touch. That was a really awesome game. I would like to thank the staff at Tamaki College for looking after us.

Why it's great to be me?

It's great to be me because we have the opportunity to learn new things every day, also that if I work hard in the future we will go to college and pass our NCEA exams. One thing that I learnt about myself was that one of my goals is to be a great influence on other people by setting a good example for them to follow.

Maths DLO

This week Ms K's group is focusing on Dividing Fractions. I had a lot of fun doing fractions. I would really like to this again.

Netball inter-school

Last week on Friday it was the netball inter-school at the AMI netball grounds. When we arrived, we split up into our different groups. I was in P.B.S red. I think the best game was when we played P.B.S white. That was a really fun game and even when we lost, we all shock hands.

Rugby League inter-school

Last week on Tuesday most of the people in LS2, went to the rugby league tournament. I think that we all had fun, and learnt a lot about playing rugby league. Even when lost our games, we all went and shacked the other teams hands.

Contractions - Writing

Today I have completed my writing tasks. I chose to pick re-write with the capitals, I had a lot of fun doing this task.

This week and last week LS2 are focusing on Careers and Jobs. Yesterday we did the Career quiz, after we finished the quiz we picked the Career that we are most interested in. I have an Architect, I have listed the amount of pay, industry type, information and skills and knowledge you need to know. I had really fun finding the different Jobs/ Careers.

In Reading we had to define words that are related to the Suffrage movement. We also needed to write what we know about the suffrage movement, and other questions. CJ, Oh Hsen, Calvin, Shannon and I have all worked together to complete this sketchnote. We talked about what it was and decided what we wanted to put for our answers.

Kate Sheappard

In LS2 we have been learning about the suffrage movement. After we had found out what is was we had to make a DLO about Kate Sheppard, because she was the leader of the Suffragettes. After we had included the information, we had to write our own question. We came up with the questions together as a group. The last task was to find the answers to our questions. My group (Oh Hsen, Shannon, Calvin and CJ) have learned a lot more about Kate Sheppard.

Rewindable learning

Today LS2 were practicing our dances for our production. We were using rewindable learning, we were able to look at our videos that Mrs Anderson took to help us practice learning our dance moves. I am really looking forward to performing our dances at the production, our dance is I see red.


Today for writing I have made a DLO about Idioms. We had to provide examples of Idiom, and illustrate one of the examples. Today I have chosen to illustrate Call it a day, it means it's time to quit. I have really learned something new about idioms, I think that will really help me.

Winter Learning Journey Awards

At assembly today, Rachel came to award us for our efforts in the Winter Learning Journey. A lot of people from LS2 received certifies and prizes. I had fun doing these activities in the Winter Learning Journey, I had completed all of them but one. There were six top bloggers from our school they were, Daniel and Oh Hsen who came first, AJ and Alex who came second and Ofa and I came third. I can't wait to take part in the Summer Learning Journey. I would like to say thank you to Rachel and her team for blogging with us during the holidays.


Today at tech, most of the year 8's have started to paint our designs. Before we were up to do that, we had to draw our design, then laser cut the design. I really like that everyone has finished their design and are up to painting. Next week most of us are up to doing our second coat of paint. I think that this will be really fun.

This week for maths, we have been doing it pays to win. I had fun completing the task, the most changeling thing for me was to find the average of what he gets paid.


For writing we have been learning about hyperbole. In this peace of writing I have included 5 examples of hyperbole. I really like created my own story with hyperbole in it.

Suffragette Movement - 25 Word Summary

In reading we have been learning about how woman got their equal rights, by going through NZ's timeline. We then watched a video of what the suffragette movement was. While we watched the clip we were making notes. We needed to understand what it was by talking with our group. The last thing we did was write a 25 word summary with our group. I have worked with Shannon, CJ, Calvin, and Oh Hsen.

Why it is so important to keep oral storytelling alive?

Oral storytelling is a great way to keep the Maori stories, alive. This is a very important tradition to pass down, from generation to generation.

In LS2 we have been looking at Myths and Legends. With a buddy you needed to watch three videos with subtitles. I then had a learning conversation with my partner (Oh Hsen). We have worked collaboratively for the last part of this activity, which was to write a very powerful 25 word summary, on why it is important to keep oral storytelling alive. Explore Maori Myth and Legends

In LS2 we have been exploring Maori myths and legends. We decided to make a storyboard that about Maui slowing the sun.  Oh Hsen and I have used Dialogue to explain what's going on, we had to show not tell. In this myth, Maui doesn't have enough time to do his daily things. I found it challenging to pick the right characters, and the type of color that you wanted. I also found hard to pick the right background for one scene because most of the other backgrounds did not match with the scene that we did.

Winter Learning Journey - Day 7 Bonus Activity

For this Activity I picked to write a reflection about what happen in my week.

In my week I have learnt a lot of things about New Zealand I did not know. I always like learning new things. The thing I like doing the most is the find a famous New Zealander. The task that I did not do was create the Moa, I think that it was the hardest. This was really fun and I can't wait for the next one.

For this task I had to research a famous New Zealander, and find out about them. Then I had to create a DLO and say Where was they born, Why are they famous and two interesting facts.

Winter Learning Journey - Day 5 Activity 1

For this activity I had to write a short story (8-10 sentences) about what might happen next. I had to pretend if I was in a forest and I was lost.
It was night and my friends were nowhere to been seen. Then I realized I wondered away from our camp site. I tried shouting for "help," and shouting "I am lost." Then I herd some voices, by now I am felling so scared. Then I started walking to where I am hearing the voices. But just then I remembered that I a flash light in my pocket. I used the flash to see where I was going, I ended up near a mountain side.

For this activity I had to think about if we should ban fishing Farewell split. I think that they should it will better for the dolphins to stay alive.

For this activity I had to watch movie trailer called the wale rider. The I had to write a summary about the movie trailers and rate it out of five. Here is my summary: This movie is a girl's and her twin bother, that wad going to become the next chief. I give movie a four out of ten because it looks to be a fun movie.

For this I had to read this Farewell Split. Then I had to write what the locals did to try save the wales.

Winter Learning Journey - Day 3 Activity 2

For this activity I had read about New Zealand are working to kill pests like possum. Then you had to form a opinion and three reason why you think that way. I agree with New Zealanders that pests should be killed. My reasons:

  1.  Pests kill native trees.
  2.  They could be killing native animals E.G the kiwi by eating the eggs.
  3.  The pests my carry diseases.

Winter Learning Journey - Day 3 Activity 1

For this activity I had to pick New Zealand Native Animal I would adopt. I decided to adopt the kiwi. The kiwi is a flight less bird. The kiwi lives around the forests. The kiwi eat Seeds, Grubs and Worms. Here is a photo of a kiwi.

For this task I had to conduct a real interview to a member of family and ask what are there 5 favorite things to do out-doors. I chose to do my brother (Bradley). His favorite things to do were:

Winter Learning Journey - Day 2 Activity 1

For this I visited at three places, these were: Rangitoto, Tane Mahuta and Karekare beach. Now I had to pick the the one place that I liked the most. The one I liked the most was the Tane Mahuta. I chose this because it looked beautiful.

For this task I to create my own New Zealand flag. I used flag Designer to make my flag. In my flag yellow is for the sun, the blue is for the Sea, Black star is the stares at night, and the white is for the all whites.

Tae Kwondo

Our kiwisport this term was Tae Kwondo. I have worked with Oh Hsen and created a collage. We have been learning how to build our stamina up by doing push ups every session. Our instructor was Steve Pellow and Paul Mcphail. They taught us a lot of things. 

Dance DLO

For this dance DLO I have worked with Tiava. We had to write our evaluation of our dance for this term, I think that it was really fun this term for dance.

Tamaki Wrap

On Tuesday we had special visitors from Tamaki Wrap came to Panmure Bridge School to teach us about plastic. But before we met them Ms Kirkpatrick presented us a movie. The movie was also about plastic. I had worked with Sanujan. This really fun learning about the platics.

Key vocabulary

Oh Hsen and I have completed a DLO on vocabulary. We had a list of words and needed to define them in our own words. We also added attributions a reference. 

People Power Maths

For this DLO I worked with Nazella and Fifita. Today's L.I was, Formula for finding a percentage using a calculator. I have learnt a knew skill with finding a percentage.

Season Animation (Summer and Winter Solstice)

This an animation that Oh Hsen and I have worked on and completed. In this animation we were explaining how seasons change and, what Winter and Summer Solstices are. Near the end we have an animation of the Earth orbiting the Sun. Hopefully you have learnt something new from this animation.

Winter Solstice (Peru) Dlo

In LS2 we have been finding out how other cultures celebrate Winter Solstice. I have worked with Oh Hsen, and we decided to do Peru. We found out some really good information. We were shocked when we read how they use to celebrate it.

Blackout Day at PBS

Today at Panmure Bridge School had a black out day, we did this to supports the British & Irish Lions or the All blacks. After lunch the whole school assembled at the hall, to watch videos and sing the song Tutira mai. As soon as we finished singing the song, the Kapahaka boys performed a haka, this haka was led by AJ. Then we went out side and assembled in to spell all blacks. Mr Wong flew the drone, and took a video of us making the letters the spell ALL BLACKS. We then went on the court to pass the rugby ball, I felt really happy that we pass the ball successfully. I would like to say a big thank you to Mr Ogilvie for organizing this.

What people think about rubbish in our school

This is a graph showing what people think about rubbish in our school it shows that a lot of people drop rubbish around our school. It also shows that we need more rubbish bin, we need more and finally a lot of people are unsure whether people would listen to signs saying not to litter.
